Jurgen Klopp set to keep faith in unconvincing Loris Karius
May 26th 2018, a date German and Liverpool goalkeeper, Loris Karius will never forget so soon in his footballing career. Liverpool had scored their way through the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, with the likes of Salah, Mane and you know who; Firmino racking up an outstanding 30 goals in the campaign but faced the biggest test when they had to play Realmadrid in the final game – well, you know how that ended. 🙁
2 months later, No transfer activities around goalkeeping reinforcements for the red, Loris Karius is still the man between the sticks for Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp has clearly not lost faith in the man whose mistakes cost his team dearly in Kiev. He said after the friendly match against Tranmere rovers which Liverpool won 3-2 following yet another mistake by Karius;
“Yes he could have made that save even though the shot was not easy to deal with.
“I’ve seen this situation 500 times at least in my life – ‘Bam’, against the chest, (ball) going down.
“Now Loris concedes that goal but we cannot start the story always after each mistake. Mistakes will happen.
“I don’t like it, you don’t like it, he doesn’t like it, but they do happen. So let’s carry on and make the best of all these situations to learn from it.
“No one likes that goal but if we talk about the second goal I think it was Millie’s (James Milner’s) fault together with (Pedro) Chirivella.”
Time will tell however, if Karius will be the man in charge of stopping the hammers when Liverpool begins their 2018/2019 campaign on the 8th of August.
